Pineapple Technology contracted us to perform a thermal analysis on their celestial TV amplifier, which contained several power supplies. Within each power supply, there were two main power generating components. These components created 700 watts of waste heat, or 1400 watts total per power module, making the components inefficient. Using CFD to analyze how the heat was being distributed, we created a liquid cooling system of a water glycol solution. The cooling system was designed so the water glycol solution would be delivered to a custom cold plate, which dispersed the heat effectively. Upon testing the cooling system, everything worked according to the analyses.
